Perhaps some of the most fun and demanding content for casual players in Final Fantasy XIV is the trials and their extreme equivalents. These trials set eight players against one enemy, with difficulties varying depending on the level and how high-level the trial is.
There are a lot of trials in FFXIV, with the majority coming from MSQ progression. Hard or Extreme versions are usually unlocked via completing side quests, and Extreme trials are worth aiming towards.
Extreme trials usually drop sought-after materials, and all of them drop their own mounts. Completing all of the Extreme trials in an expansion and earning their mounts will then unlock a further mount that can’t be earned any other way.
Here’s every trial in FFXIV, and what quest you’ll need to complete to unlock it.
These trials are unlocked simply by playing through the MSQ of A Realm Reborn:
Trial | Level | Unlock quest |
---|---|---|
The Bowl of Embers | 20 | Lord of the Inferno |
The Navel | 34 | Lord of the Crags |
The Howling Eye | 44 | Lady of the Vortex |
The Porta Decumana | 50 | The Ultimate Weapon |
Thornmarch (Hard) | 50 | You Have Selected Regicide |
The Whorleater (Hard) | 50 | Lord of the Whorl |
The Striking Tree (Hard) | 50 | Levin an Impression |
The Akh Afah Amphitheatre (Hard) | 50 | The Instruments of Our Deliverance |
The Chrysalis | 50 | An Uninvited Ascian |
While these aren’t strictly necessary for the story of FFXIV, they do add additional lore and side stories that are fun to dive into, nonetheless. You also have to complete Hard trials in order to unlock their Extreme versions, and these are all level 50 trials:
Trial | Unlock quest |
---|---|
The Bowl of Embers (Hard) | Ifrit Bleeds, We Can Kill It |
The Howling Eye (Hard) | In for Garuda Awakening |
The Navel (Hard) | In a Titan Spot |
A Relic Reborn: The Chimera | A Relic Reborn |
A Relic Reborn: The Hydra | A Relic Reborn |
Battle on the Big Bridge | The Three Collectors |
The Dragon’s Neck | The Coliseum Conundrum |
Battle in the Big Keep | Her Last Vow |
Urth’s Fount | Fear and Odin in the Shroud |
High-end trials are the extreme versions of trials that already exist, with the difficulty taken up a notch (or a few). Extreme trials will always be the maximum level for the expansion in which they were released, so all A Realm Reborn trials are level 50.
Trial | Unlock quest |
---|---|
The Minstrel’s Ballad: Ultima’s Bane | The Ultimate Ballad |
The Howling Eye (Extreme) | Gale-force Warning |
The Navel (Extreme) | Quake Me Up Before You O’Ghomoro |
The Bowl of Embers (Extreme) | Ifrit Ain’t Broke |
Thornmarch (Extreme) | The King Lives |
The Whorleater (Extreme) | Whorl of a Time |
The Striking Tree (Extreme) | Judgement Bolts and Lightning |
The Akh Afah Amphitheatre (Extreme) | Drop Dead Shiva |
The following four trials are unlocked as part of the MSQ during Heavensward:
Trial | Level | Unlock quest |
---|---|---|
Thok ast Thok (Hard) | 53 | Lord of the Hive |
The Limitless Blue (Hard) | 57 | Bolt, Chain, and Island |
The Singularity Reactor | 60 | Heavensward |
The Final Steps of Faith | 60 | An End to the Song |
The following trials are unlocked through side quests in Azys Lla, and all are level 60:
Trial | Unlock quest |
---|---|
Containment Bay S1T7 | When the Bough Breaks |
Containment Bay P1T6 | Balance unto All |
Containment Bay Z1T9 | The Last Pillar to Fall |
If you want an extra challenge, then you can unlock and complete the Heavensward Extreme trials to take on previously challenged enemies at a higher scale of difficulty and get those precious drops. These are all level 60 trials:
Trial | Unlock quest |
---|---|
The Limitless Blue (Extreme) | The Diabolical Bismarck |
Thok ast Thok (Extreme) | Thok Around the Clock |
The Minstrel’s Ballad: Thordan’s Reign | Thordan’s Reign |
Containment Bay S1T7 | A Fiendish Likeness |
Containment Bay P1T6 | A Deific Simulacrum |
Containment Bay Z1T9 | A Demonic Duplicate |
The Minstrel’s Ballad: Nidhogg’s Rage | Nidhogg’s Rage |
Stormblood added another four new trials as part of the MSQ, and they’ll unlock at the following stages:
Trial | Level | Unlock quest |
---|---|---|
The Pool of Tribute | 63 | The Lord of the Revel |
Emanation | 67 | The Lady of Bliss |
The Royal Managerie | 70 | Stormblood |
Castrum Fluminis | 70 | The Primary Agreement |
The following trials are unlocked by completing side quests in Stormblood, including the Four Auspices line of quests:
Trial | Unlock quest |
---|---|
The Jade Stoa | An Auspicious Encounter |
The Great Hunt | The New King on the Block |
Hells’ Kier | The Fire-Bird Down Below |
The Wreath of Snakes | Surpassing the Samurai |
Kugane Ohashi | The Past Is Never Past |
Many of the Stormblood trials, except Kugane Ohashi from the Hildibrand quest line, have Extreme versions to unlock and fight through. Luckily, most of them are unlocked by completing a single side quest:
Trial | Unlock quest |
---|---|
The Pool of Tribute (Extreme) Emanation (Extreme) The Minstrel’s Ballad: Shinryu’s Domain The Jade Stoa (Extreme) The Minstrel’s Ballad: Tsukuyomi’s Pain Hell’s Kier (Extreme) The Wreath of Snakes (Extreme) |
Songs in the Key of Kugane |
The Great Hunt (Extreme) | The Newer King on the Block |
As was something of a pattern by this point, Shadowbringers added four new MSQ trials:
Trial | Level | Unlock quest |
---|---|---|
The Dancing Plague | 73 | Acht-la Ormh Inn |
The Crown of the Immaculate | 79 | Extinguishing the Last Light |
The Dying Gasp | 80 | Shadowbringers |
The Seat of Sacrifice | 80 | Hope’s Confluence |
As part of the Shadow of Werlyt quest line, the following three level 80 trials can also be unlocked in Shadowbringers:
Trial | Unlock quest |
---|---|
Cinder Drift | Ruby Doomsday |
Castrum Marinum | Blood of Emerald |
The Cloud Deck | Duty in the Sky with Diamond |
Unlike other expansions, Shadowbringers added an Extreme trial (Memoria Misera) that does not have a normal difficulty counterpart. This is unlocked by completing quests in the Bozjan Southern Front. Completing this Extreme trial unlocks the ability to dye level 80 Artifact Armor.
Here's how to unlock this trial, along with the rest of the level 80 Extreme trials:
Trial | Unlock quest |
---|---|
The Dancing Plague (Extreme) The Crown of the Immaculate (Extreme) The Minstrel’s Ballad: Hades’s Elegy The Seat of Sacrifice (Extreme) |
Minstrel from Another Mother |
Cinder Drift (Extreme) Castrum Marinum (Extreme) The Cloud Deck (Extreme) |
Weapon of Choice |
Memoria Misera (Extreme) | The Bozja Incident |
Endwalker really upped the number of trials added as part of the MSQ, going against the established pattern and adding a total of 7 trials to unlock as you progress through the main story:
Trial | Level | Unlock quest |
---|---|---|
The Dark Inside | 83 | The Martyr |
The Mothercrystal | 89 | Her Children, One and All |
The Final Day | 90 | Endwalker |
Storm’s Crown | 90 | The Wind Rises |
Mount Ordeals | 90 | Desires Untold |
The Voidcast Dais | 90 | Abyssal Dark |
The Abyssal Fracture | 90 | Down in the Dark |
Only one level 90 trial is unlocked through completing a side quest during Endwalker, and it comes as part of the Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures. To unlock the Gilded Araya, you’ll need to play through all of Hildibrand’s Endwalker quests until you complete “Gentleman at Heart.”
Each of the MSQ trials in Endwalker has an Extreme equivalent, and this can be unlocked by completing the level 90 side quest “I Wandered Sharlayan as a Minstrel.”
So far, three trials have been added to Dawntrail as part of the MSQ:
Trial | Level | Unlock quest |
---|---|---|
Worqor Lar Dor | 93 | The Skyruin |
Everkeep | 99 | The Resilient Son |
The Interphos | 100 | Dawntrail |
As of yet, there are no further trials that can be unlocked via side quests in Dawntrail. This may change with future patches, so this section will be updated accordingly.
Each of the MSQ quests in Dawntail has an Extreme version that can be unlocked by completing the level 100 side quest “How the West Was Sung.”
The post All trials in Final Fantasy XIV and how to unlock them appeared first on Destructoid.
]]>Final Fantasy XIV is known for its raiding community, who take part in Normal, Savage and Ultimate raids for intense challenges and endgame rewards. However, there is another type of Raid, more suited to players who prefer a lower-pressure environment but with all of the flashy fights — Alliance Raids.
Alliance Raids are heavily story-based duties designed for 24 players in three, full parties of eight. Not only do Alliance Raids often have sought-after rewards, like gear perfect for late-game or glamour, but they have arguably the most epic narrative outside of the MSQ in any expansion.
With that in mind, it makes sense that you’d want access to all of them, so let’s review how to unlock every FFXIV Alliance Raid series.
This storyline is our first introduction to the Crystal Tower which plays a pivotal role later on in Shadowbringers, as well as fan favorite Miqote, G’raha Tia. This is the only Alliance Raid series which is a requirement for progressing the MSQ.
In order to complete the Crystal Tower story arc, unlock all three Alliance Raids, and progress with the MSQ, you’ll need to complete the following level 50 quests:
Quest | NPC | Unlocks |
---|---|---|
Legacy of Allag | Outlandish Man Mor Dhona (X:21.8, Y:8.1) |
|

During the Shadow of Mhach storyline, you’ll work alongside the Sky Pirates and Cait Sith to save an ancient civilization from a pact they made with a mysterious evil power. These raids are particularly daunting, even today, but also really satisfying to complete.
In order to complete the Shadow of Mhach story and unlock all of the associated Alliance Raids, you’ll need to complete the following level 60 quests:
Quest | NPC | Unlocks |
---|---|---|
Sky Pirates | Unquiet Trader The Pillars (Foundation) (X:14.1, Y:10.7) |
|
To Rule the Skies | Utata The Sea of Clouds (X:25.0, Y:5.0) |

The YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse series of Alliance Raids not only carries a distinctly NieR aesthetic, but it was also designed by the creators of NieR: Automata themselves, Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito. Despite this, there’s a distinctly FFXIV feel to the Raids, and they’re incredibly fun to take part in while still being challenging.
This is the longest questline of all the Alliance Raids, so buckle in. To complete the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse storyline and unlock all of the Alliance Raids, you’ll need to complete the following level 80 quests:

The post How to unlock every Alliance Raid in Final Fantasy XIV appeared first on Destructoid.
]]>With each expansion of Final Fantasy XIV, a new raid tier arrives to test your mettle against high-level foes. There are a lot of different raids to complete within each expansion, with Normal and Savage raids proving the most popular and often giving some of the best rewards.
There are, in fact, four different types of Raid within Final Fantasy XIV: Alliance, Normal, Savage, and Ultimate. However, this guide is going to focus solely on how to unlock the Normal Raids, their Savage counterparts, and Ultimate raids where applicable.

The post Every FFXIV 8-man raid unlock guide: Coil, Alexander, Omega, Eden, Pandæmonium, and Arcadion appeared first on Destructoid.
]]>If you’ve played through the main story of Final Fantasy XIV and want to relive those memories, but you don’t want to go through the hassle of having to go through the grind again on another character, there’s good news — New Game Plus allows you to do just that.
New Game Plus was introduced to FFXIV back in patch 5.1, so it has been around for a while, but the concept of it can be a little daunting to those unfamiliar with it. Once you’re past the hump of getting to grips with the interface, though, you can relive your favorite parts with little to no stress involved.
Before you can unlock the New Game Plus feature in FFXIV, you’ll need to play (or have completed) the MSQ up until “The Ultimate Weapon”, which is the last MSQ quest before Post-ARR quests were added in patches 2.1 to 2.56.
Once you’ve reached that point, or if you haven’t done so already, head to Western Thanalan and talk to Wistful Whitebeard in Horizon, Western Thanalan (X:12.0, Y:14.0) to unlock New Game Plus.
After this, new chapters will be added as you progress through the story. It’s not just MSQ that can be replayed through New Game Plus, but also side content such as raid series’, the Hildibrand story line, and Job, Class or Role Quests.
Once it’s unlocked, you can find New Game Plus under the main menu by selecting “Duty”, then “New Game+”. This will open up a window displaying all of the possible chapters of New Game Plus that you currently have unlocked. Each section of the MSQ will unlock after completing a certain quest along the way, but more on that in just a little bit.
Each expansion is broken down into multiple different chapters, with Post-MSQ content making up its own chapters, and you’ll need to select the chapter you want to replay before selecting “Commence”. If you’ve started a chapter in New Game Plus previously, you’ll also be able to continue from where you left off by selecting the left-most tab on the top row.
You can only begin a chapter of New Game Plus if you are physically in a location that was already in the game at that point. For instance, you cannot start any chapters from Shadowbringers if you’re in an area added in either Endwalker or Dawntrail, so you’ll need to teleport to somewhere that actually existed when the expansion was released. You can, however, go back and play through the story right from the beginning on a Job that was added much later, such as completing A Realm Reborn as a Reaper or Pictomancer, which is always interesting.
While you will gain EXP from completing dungeons or duties as part of a New Game Plus playthrough, you won’t get any EXP or rewards from quests that you’re completing again. You also cannot register for any duties that you haven’t yet completed or interact with the Marketboard or Retainers. On the plus side, any solo quest battles will automatically have the “Easy” and “Very Easy” options available, making the whole process otherwise pretty stress-free.
You suspend New Game Plus in much the same way as you enable it, by opening up the New Game+ window and pressing suspend. If you register for any duty that you haven’t previously run, this will also automatically suspend the New Game Plus that you were playing.
With each chapter of New Game Plus featuring different sections of the story, it can be hard to figure out which chapter you should play for a certain quest or recap. Here’s everything included in New Game Plus, what each chapter covers, and which quest you’ll need to complete to unlock the chapter:
As a general rule, with the exception of A Realm Reborn, there are two New Game Plus chapters for each expansion that include the main story as it was released, and then two further chapters that encompass all quests added in later patches during that cycle.
It’s worth noting that when it comes to A Realm Reborn, you’ll only be able to access one of the versions of Part 1 as each starting city-state has its own individual quest line up to level 15. You’ll only be able to replay your own specific quests for this portion, just as you did the first time around.

These can be found in the last five tabs of the New Game Plus interface and include Class Quests for all crafting and gathering classes as well.
The post How does New Game Plus work in Final Fantasy XIV? appeared first on Destructoid.
]]>Final Fantasy XIV is a truly expansive MMO. There are hundreds of hours of Main Scenario Quest (MSQ) content, and that’s without counting side quests, content not related to the story, or duties outside of it. There’s a whole world to get lost in, and it can seem a bit daunting, but it's not so bad if you break it down into manageable chunks.
Between level 1 and 15, you’ll have different quests depending on where you start your journey. You’ll need to complete 160 - 160 MSQ quests (Ul’dah gets one extra, for some reason) to get through the bulk of ARR.
As this is the first introduction to the world of FFXIV, I’ll note down where to find each quest to help you along.

The post FFXIV: Every MSQ quest from A Realm Reborn to Dawntrail appeared first on Destructoid.
]]>Final Fantasy XIV is an MMO that allows you to switch your job at the click of a button, without the need to change characters. Your gear automatically assigns, you get a shiny new weapon, and each expansion adds new jobs to try and master.
Whether you’re just diving into your Eorzean adventure, or you’re a seasoned veteran at this point stuck in a leveling rut, there are a lot of different options for grinding out those levels. With the new level cap of 100 added with Dawntrail, the numbers can seem a little daunting, but there are valuable rewards on offer for those who do the work.
I know that everyone has their main job, be it Tank, DPS, or Healer, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth it to branch out and get a feel for the other roles. Stepping out of your comfort zone and putting yourself in a different pair of shoes can actually help you to understand fights, mechanics, and what’s needed of you in your main role.
The maximum level back when A Realm Reborn was released was 50, and as previously stated, it’s now increased to 100. Reaching a previous or current level cap with all jobs will gain you rewards, with the value of the reward increasing as you progress through higher levels. We can pretend that the level 90 reward wasn’t a bizarre and widely unloved choice, although I’d like to see it turned into a Dancer weapon so it might at least be useful.
Regardless, here are all of the level cap rewards from level 50 to 100, including the titles rewarded for leveling all jobs in the Disciple of War (DoW) or Magic (DoM) categories:
Level | Titles | Overall reward |
---|---|---|
50 | DoW: Warmonger DoM: Archmage |
Paragon’s Crown |
60 | DoW: Grandmaster of War DoM: Grandmaster of Magic |
Warlord’s Crown |
70 | DoW: God/Goddess of War DoM: God/Goddess of Magic |
Dynasty Crown |
80 | DoW: Soul of War DoM: Soul of Magic |
Amaro Horn |
90 | DoW: At War’s Horizon DoM: At Magic’s Horizon |
Migratory Plume |
100 | DoW: Arbiter of War DoM: Arbiter of Magic |
Outrunner Identification Key |
There are a few different items that are available to players in order to boost EXP gain when levelling. The most important of these are the jewelry items that are available as part of pre-ordering future expansions. These can come in particularly handy if you’re leveling a job from scratch, as most of them boost your EXP gain by 30%.
Here are all of the jewelry items and how to get them:
Jewelry | EXP bonus | How to get |
---|---|---|
Moogle Cap | 20% up to level 10 | Pre-ordering A Realm Reborn |
Helm of Light | 20% up to level 10 | A Realm Reborn Collector’s Edition |
Friendship Circlet | 20% up to level 26 | Recruit a Friend reward |
Brand New Ring | 30% up to level 30 | Hall of the Novice |
Ala Mhigan Earring | 30% up to level 50 | Pre-ordering Stormblood |
Aetheryte Earring | 30% up to level 70 | Pre-ordering Shadowbringers |
Menphina Earring | 30% up to level 80 | Pre-ordering Endwalker |
Azeyma’s Earring | 30% up to level 90 | Pre-ordering Dawntrail |
As well as these jewelry pieces, remember to utilize Free Company Actions (or get your FC Leader to make sure they’re active) to get a 10% boost and make sure to eat for an additional 3% boost. These all stack on top of each other, so you can end up with a maximum boost of 43%, depending on what level you’re playing at.
As I said, the concept of grinding out all of those levels for every job can seem particularly daunting, especially with new jobs that start at a lower level than the previous level cap or if you’re just starting out. There is a long list of options when it comes to leveling, but it can be all too easy to get bogged down in routine and forget about the very lucrative side hustles on offer.
Look, I know that the thought of running Praetorium or Castrum for the thousandth time isn’t the most thrilling of ideas, but there’s a reason that queues do (eventually, if you’re playing DPS) pop: roulettes offer a huge amount of EXP for relatively little effort, and you should definitely get down to business after the daily reset each day.
The best roulettes for leveling purposes are Leveling, Main Scenario, and PvP. While other roulettes do offer EXP, of course, you can probably give them a miss if you want to get those levels up quickly. Bonus points if you’re the “Adventurer in Need,” which not only increases the EXP you’ll gain but also offers a nice amount of Gil as a passive bonus.
While Khloe might seem like she’s stingy with her sticker placement, the rewards on offer for Wondrous Tales take a backseat to the amount of EXP on offer for completing her requested nine duties, which is guaranteed to give you at least half a level regardless of what your starting level was.
If you’ve been running your daily roulettes, you’ve likely amassed the full nine retries as well, meaning you can simply pick the easiest duty on the list (usually a low-level extreme trial or Alexander raid), keep using your retries and knock out half a level in under half an hour.
Forget about that unbelievably cheesy header (I’m not sorry) and focus on the fact that FATEs are an amazing way to crank out EXP in a relatively short period of time. At a minimum, Dawntrail FATEs offer up to around 500,000 EXP per FATE without adding on bonuses, the EXP boosts you have applied, or whether you’ve recently felled a Forlorn Maiden or not.
Plus, as you grind out those FATEs in Shadowbringers, Endwalker, and Dawntrail zones, you’ll be earning Bicolor Gemstones that can be traded for some pretty epic rewards, so you’re getting something out of it either way.
If you don’t feel like waiting for long periods as a DPS player queues for dungeons, consider leveling and using your Trust or Duty Support to get you through content. These features allow you to run through dungeons with a party of NPCs who make up the rest of the party, meaning there’s never a need to queue, and you still get the full EXP that you would for queueing for the same dungeon the old-fashioned way.
Now look, I’m the first to admit that this method can, at times, be infuriating. The NPCs seem allergic to AOEs, so you’ll be single-targeting every enemy in every dungeon that you run. Sometimes, the healers seem intent on letting you die, and you’ll have to adjust to coded placement to avoid them stacking AOEs on top of your head. Not to mention the fact that Alisaie is an absolute nightmare with a Limit Break…
However, I’ll take all of that over 30 minutes or more queues to run a single dungeon on a DPS job. Plus, this can be done solo, so you can just zone out and rest assured that you’re not endangering or annoying other players if you get something wrong. It’s also an excellent way to get to grips with mechanics that you aren’t entirely sure about without feeling embarrassed at your own mishandling of them.
And, as an added bonus, all of the loot is yours, so if you want to get your hands on a particular glamor set of minions, then this is a great way to do that.
Formerly known as Tribal Quests and even more formerly known as Beast Tribe Quests, Allied Society Quests can offer up a large amount of EXP for a very small amount of work. There are multiple Allied Societies for each expansion, with higher-level Societies offering up more EXP for quests completed.
You get an allowance of 12 Allied Society Quests per day, with three available from each Allied Society every day, and you can easily gain a third to a half of a level, depending on the level of the Allied Society Quests themselves. Currently, the highest-level Allied Society is the Pelupelu in Kozama’uka.
Each Allied Society has rewards on offer for increasing your reputation with them, including emotes, mounts, minions, titles, and even some glamor items that aren’t to be sniffed at.
After completing the level 15 quest “Rising to the Challenge” (head to Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks and talk to I’tolwann (X:11.4, Y:11.0) if you haven’t done this yet!), you’ll gain access to the Challenge Log.
This log is split into different categories, including Battle, Crafting & Gathering, and Levequests. While some challenges reward other currencies upon completion, such as Wolf Marks or MGP, battle challenges will reward you with a huge boost of EXP (sometimes over a million) for completing certain tasks like running a fixed number of dungeons, giving a fixed number of commendations, or even running FATEs.
The Challenge Log refreshes at the same time as the general weekly reset, 2 a.m. on a Tuesday, so make sure you complete them before this happens to get the most EXP for your efforts.
They might not offer up the biggest amount of EXP, but side quests are just sitting there waiting to be done and give added background lore that you’d otherwise miss out on. I suggest this as a last resort, but if you’re at a loose end and waiting for a dungeon to pop, clearing out an area of side quests can be a good way to get some extra EXP when all else fails.
While there aren’t as many options for leveling, crafting and gathering jobs in FFXIV, there are still a few things you can do to prevent you having to quick-synth hundreds of items.
Don’t be scared away from using manuals by the “effect is halved after level ??” in the description. Yes, you won’t get quite the 150% boost to EXP, but you shouldn’t turn your nose up at a 75% increase in crafting or gathering EXP.
I say this from personal experience: yes, doing this is awkward. You’ll need to keep an eye out for the notification telling you that you’re no longer getting an EXP boost, stop crafting or gathering, and then use another manual before continuing to do whatever you were doing. However, seeing those levels go up so quickly is definitely worth it.
These can be purchased from any Scrip Exchange vendor for 30 Purple Scrips each. Make sure you get the Revised version, as these will last you the longest. Engineering Manuals apply to crafting classes, while Survival Manuals apply to gathering classes, so make sure you get the right one as well.
Leves are a valuable source of large amounts of EXP, and there are Leves available at all levels. Crafting Leves require you to craft certain items (or purchase them on the Marketboard ready-made if you’re rolling in Gil and feeling lazy), then hand them in to get the EXP. Handing in HQ items will
Gathering Leves are harder to cheat (except Fishing, which can also be completed using items purchased on the Marketboard), but they’re still not difficult. You’ll need to go to a certain location, gather up a certain number of items, and then talk to the Leve person wherever you picked up the quest. Bonuses are applied for overachieving during the Leve quest, so the better you do, the quicker you’ll level up.
Custom Deliveries are available in each expansion, with higher-level Custom Deliveries NPCs offering higher amounts of EXP for hand-ins. These will require you to craft high-level items, but if you’re over-leveled by ten levels, you can use the “Trained Eye” ability to instantly score 100% collectability, maximizing the amount of EXP you get for handing items in.
GC hand-ins are, by far, the easiest way to level up crafters and gatherers. Each day at 3 p.m. EST / 12 p.m. PST, your respective GC will have a new selection of items that they want to hand in. As with Leves, handing in HQ versions of these items will give you double the EXP, and you’ll find a whole bunch of people leveling up at the GC each day after the reset.

]]>With patch 7.11 arriving in Final Fantasy XIV, players can now dive into Dawntrail’s long-awaited Futures Rewritten Ultimate Raid (FRU). This raid features familiar faces from the Eden Raid series that featured during Shadowbringers, on a whole new difficulty scale.
Futures Rewritten Ultimate is the sixth Ultimate raid to be added to Final Fantasy XIV, with the others being as follows:
With beefed-up mechanics and some absolutely stunning weapons to work towards, there’s a whole slew of reasons to take in any of the Ultimate raids. However, this task is not for the weak-hearted and there are some pretty stringent unlock requirements as well.
If you want to dive into the latest Ultimate Raid, you’ll first need to complete AAC Light-heavyweight M4 Savage (M4S) from the Arcadion series. This in turn requires you to complete the normal difficulty AAC Light-heavyweight M4. You essentially need to complete the first four normal raids, which unlock sequentially, and then all four Savage raids, which also unlock one after the other.
Of course, if you’re getting to grips with Futures Rewritten Ultimate, you’ve likely ticked off both of these tasks already. In that case, to unlock the raid itself you’ll need to head to Tuliyollal and find the Wandering Minstrel close to the For-ard Cabins Aethernet Crystal (X:11.1 Y:14.6).
Futures Rewritten Ultimate is an eight-player, level 100 raid. If you want to take part, you’ll need the current “best in slot” gear, which is iLvl 730 - 735 Dark Horse Champion sets or Augmented Quetzali sets. In the future, when higher iLvl gear is released, anything more recent than these sets will be sufficient.
Futures Rewritten Ultimate can only be accessed via the Raid Finder and entered by a pre-made party of eight players. While you can have two different players on duty on the same Job, this isn’t advised, as it will cancel out the passive generation of Limit Break.
Upon successful completion of Futures Rewritten Ultimate, all players will be rewarded with an Oracle Totem. These can then be taken to Uah’shepya in Solution Nine (X:8.7, Y:13.5) and exchanged for the rather glorious iLvl 735 Ultimate Edenmorn Weapons. Each weapon can be obtained in exchange for one Oracle Totem.
Currently, players can only obtain one Oracle Totem per week, with a new totem becoming available after the weekly reset each Tuesday. This restriction will only be in place until patch 7.2. A totem will be given to each player completing the duty for the first time each week, regardless of whether others in the party have already obtained their weekly reward.

]]>There are a dizzying number of crafting materials in Final Fantasy XIV, and all of them have specific sources to figure out before you can get down to crafting. Condensed Solution is a crafting material that was added in patch 7.1, and it’s incredibly useful.
If you want to nab the new level 100, iLvl 720 Everseekers crafting and gathering sets without breaking the bank and effectively throwing all of your Gil at the Marketboard, you’re going to need one vital crafting material — Condensed Solution. Unfortunately, getting it might be a bit of a slog, but keep reading to find out everything that you need to know.
Before you can get some Condensed Solutions, you’ll need to commit some time to craft specific recipes that can be handed into a Collectable Appraiser to earn some Orange Scrips. Orange Scrips can be earned by both crafters and gatherers, but you’ll specifically need Orange Crafters’ Scrips if you want some Condensed Solution.
When you’ve got some, you can head to any Scrip Exchange merchant and select the following options in the drop-down menus at the top:
Condensed Solution costs 125 Orange Crafters' Scrips each, so you'll need to stock up on a hefty sum of the currency as you'll need three per item from the Everkeepers sets that you want to craft. Not only is it part of the base recipe for each item in the sets, but it's also used in the recipe for Optical Nanofiber, which is also an ingredient in the sets as well.
Orange Crafters’ Scrips can only be gained by crafting level 100 collectables, so you’ll need to have maxed out at least one crafting class before you can get any. For each successfully crafted level 100 collectable that you hand in, you’ll earn between 120 and 144 Orange Crafters’ Scrips, depending on the collectability rating of the final craft.
Here’s a full list of Orange Crafters’ Scrip recipes and how to make them:
Crafting class | Crafted item | Recipe |
Carpenter | Rarefied Claro Walnut Fishing Rod | 2 Claro Walnut Lumber 1 Ka’Kaznar Ingot 1 Black Star |
Blacksmith | Rarefied Ra’Kaznar Round Knife | 2 Ra’Kaznar Ingot 1 Claro Walnut Lumber 1 Black Star |
Armorer | Rarefied Ra’Kaznar Ring | 2 Ra’Kaznar Ingot 1 Thunderyards Silk 1 Black Star |
Goldsmith | Rarefied Black Star Earrings | 2 Black Star 1 Ra’Kaznar Ingot 1 Magnesia Whetstone |
Leatherworker | Rarefied Gargantuaskin Hat | 2 Gargantua Leather 1 Black Star 1 Rroneek Serge |
Weaver | Rarefied Thunderyards Silk Culottes | 2 Thunderyards Silk 1 Gargantua Leather 1 Black Star |
Alchemist | Rarefiied Claro Walnut Flat Brush | 2 Claro Walnut Lumber 1 Tungsten Ink 1 Thunderyards Silk |
Culinarian | Rarefied Tacos de Carne Asada | 2 Rroneek Chuck 2 Dark Rye Flour 2 Yyasulani Garlic 1 White Pepper |
Although it seems like the most resource-heavy option, the Culinarian level 100 Rarefied Tacos de Carne Asada can actually prove to be the most cost-effective option if you’re willing to put in the time and effort to gather the ingredients needed. Ingredients for this can be found in the following locations:
The only thing that can’t be gathered effectively is the Rroneek Chuck, which is best purchased using 3 Bicolor Gemstones for each Chuck. It can be purchased from any of the following Bicolor Gemstone Traders:
Once you’ve worked your fingers to the bone making the needed collectables, you’re going to need to find both a Scrip Appraiser and a Scrip Exchange. You can find one or both in almost every major city hub, and you don’t need to stick to Dawntrail areas to get Orange Crafters’ Scrips, or to spend them on your Condensed Solution.

]]>In a shocking and slightly confusing turn of events, Final Fantasy XIV has announced that there is a mobile version of the incredibly popular MMO on the way. It's officially licensed by Square Enix, but being developed by Lightspeed Studios.
I have to admit, FFXIV Mobile wasn’t exactly at the top of my wishlist or expectations for 2024, but this is not an entirely unexpected announcement. Back in August, a leaked document revealed the title on a list of licensed games heading to China. This official announcement is simply confirmation that it will also be headed to the west at some point.
According to the FFXIV Mobile website (which I’d recommend viewing only on mobile devices, as it doesn’t seem to work properly on any desktop browser), the concept of FFXIV Mobile is to relive A Realm Reborn with refreshed graphics and voice acting. Admittedly, it does look really nice and the idea of reliving those early days on the move is incredibly appealing.
The game will launch with nine playable battle Jobs, 11 crafting classes, and a variety of as-yet-unconfirmed races. Logically speaking, if this is a re-launch of A Realm Reborn for a new platform, then we can expect more recently added races such as Hrothgar and Viera to be missing from the options. Ninja is also likely not to be included as a Job, as it was added during patch 2.4 and wasn’t part of A Realm Reborn when it was originally released.
Fan reactions on social media have been mixed at best. There are a lot of people excited about the prospect of taking FFXIV on the move, but many players are filled with very reasonable questions. PUBG Mobile, a previous and very successful title released by Lightspeed Studios, is filled with microtransactions, battle passes, and other intricate money-pit features. Is FFXIV Mobile likely to go in that direction as well?
There’s also the question of how FFXIV will even play on mobile devices. Clearly hotbars will be a thing of the past, and the UI is more likely to reflect other mobile MMOs such as Genshin Impact or Wuthering Waves. Single button action rotations are to be expected, with maybe a couple of extra “special attack” buttons that charge up as you play.
The website does say that the game can be played alone or solo, though it doesn’t specify whether the mobile version will have standalone servers. If mobile players will be able to join players on other platforms, dungeons are about to get really interesting with excuses like “sorry, my Mom called” or “sorry, went through a tunnel” becoming commonplace when disconnections occur.
Some players have noted that the previously promised Final Fantasy XI mobile game never came to fruition, while others have stated their upset at the fact that money has gone into this rather than focusing on new content for current platforms. Some have pointed out that Black Mages will get the most authentic experience, when casting Fire-aspect spells causes their phones to explode.
I realize that I’m coming across very negatively about the whole thing here, but that’s not entirely the case. I’d describe my current feelings as ‘wary’, rather than negative. As more details are released and questions are answered, the feelings of the current player base could shift one way or the other, mine included.
Right now, it’s hard to imagine playing such an epic game on such a small screen, but I guess time and experience will tell. Regardless, you can pre-register to get regular updates now by heading to the FFXIV Mobile website.

]]>Once you’ve unlocked the Pelupelu Allied Society in Final Fantasy XIV, you can begin to undertake daily quests to improve your reputation and climb through the ranks. Three quests a day soon add up, and you get a whole lot of EXP to boot.
The EXP gain definitely makes the Pelupelu Allied Society worth doing for leveling purposes alone, but you can also get your hands on some unique rewards as you progress through the ranks.
Before you can begin doing daily quests, you of course need to unlock the Pelupelu Allied Society. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to pick up three level 90 quests after the daily reset (11 a.m. EST). Each quest will earn you 60 reputation with the Pelupelu, and when you earn enough reputation, you’ll gain a new rank.
The only exception to the three-quests-a-day rule is on days when you manage to increase your rank, as you’ll be given an opportunity to accept three fresh quests on the same day, allowing you to complete six quests in a short space of time.
Pelupelu Allied Society quests are for your Disciple or War or Magic Jobs, although the vast majority of quests don’t actually involve any fighting. As your rank increases, you’ll unlock new quests, and three quests of those that are currently unlocked to you will be assigned at random each day.
For each daily quest you complete, you’ll earn one Pelu Pelplume, which can then be exchanged with Pavli in Dock Poga (X:37.2, Y:16.2) for unique rewards, but more on that later.
The quests for the Pelupelu Allied Society can be split into two subcategories, main quests and daily quests.
The main quests of the Pelupelu Allied Society are what provide the story behind the Pelupelu and what they’re trying to do in Kozama’uka. The initial quest unlocks the ability to undertake quests, while further quests unlock new daily quests and rewards. There are a total of six main level 90 quests as part of the Pelupelu Allied Society questline:
Quest name | Quest NPC | Unlock rank |
An Intrepid New Adventure | Blue-garbed Pelu Tuliyollal (X:14.0, Y:13.0) |
N/A |
A Tentative First Tour | Liplu Dock Poga (X:38.0, Y:16.0) |
Friendly |
Earthenshire Awaits | Liplu Dock Poga (X:38.0, Y:16.0) |
Trusted |
Recruitment Drive | Liplu Dock Poga (X:38.0, Y:16.0) |
Respected |
A Guest From Across the Salt | Liplu Dock Poga (X:38.0, Y:16.0) |
Respected |
Partners in Pel | Liplu Dock Poga (X:38.0, Y:16.0) |
Honored |
When you reach Honored rank, you’ll have completed the entire story of the Pelupelu Allied Society and will also receive the “Tourist Wrangler…” title.
As I said, you can pick up three level 90 daily quests from Yubli in Dock Poga (X:37.0, Y:16.0) each day after the daily reset. They’re all relatively simple to complete, and you’ll get a hefty sum of EXP for doing so, so make sure to use this opportunity to level up alternate Jobs! You’ll also get 60 reputation and one Pelu Pelplume for each quest completed.
Here are all of the Pelupelu daily quests, along with what reputation you need to have for it to come up in your daily rotation:
Reputation | Quest name |
Friendly | A Notion of Promotion A Sackful of Memories Ferocious Foliage, Fearful Tourists Community Outreach in Kozanuakiy Preventative Measures Burden of Beasts Growing as a Guide |
Trusted | Bag Your Pardon Thrilled to Be Here Canvassing in Kozama’uka Reed Between the Lines The Rudiments of Fiend Removal The Nectar Collector Starting from Scrap |
Respected | Advisor vs. Predator Let Moobie Be Your Guide The Popularity of Punutiys Breath of Foul Air Big Bellies to Fill The Hand That Feeds Born to Run Away |
Honored | Bird Meat’s Back on the Menu A Sympathetic Ear Worth the Weight In Time for Lunch His Swarm Enemy Seasoned Adventurer Animal Friendship |
As you progress through the main quests of the Pelupelu Allied Society and attain higher ranks, you’ll be able to exchange your Pelu Pelplumes for different unique items alongside various types of Materia XI and XII.
Below you’ll find all unique items listed, along with what rank you need to attain to get them, and how many Pelplumes you’ll need to part with:
Reward | Reputation | Pelu Pelplumes |
Wind-up Pelupelu | Trusted | 8 |
The Travel Agency (Dawntrail) Orchestrion Roll | Trusted | 6 |
Punutiy Horn | Respected | 18 |
Pelupack | Honored | 10 |
Pelubill Calot | Sworn | 9 |
Pelupelu Framer’s Kit | Sworn | 6 |
The post FFXIV: All Pelupelu Allied Society quests and rewards appeared first on Destructoid.
]]>One of the new creatures introduced to Final Fantasy XIV as part of the Dawntrail expansion was the Punutiy, which are essentially the Manatees of Etheirys. Now, as of the 7.1 patch, players can get their very own airborne version, and it’s very cute.
According to the limited lore that we have surrounding Punutiys, they are used to tow riverboats through Tural. However, 7.1 added another level to the lore, and apparently, the Hanu Hanu used to imbue the Punutiy with the power of the wind, allowing them to glide gracefully through the skies to transport items and people over the waterfalls of Kozama’uka.
As if a flying Punutiy wasn’t enough of a tempting prospect, this mount also comes with an action called Bosom Brook, which will send the Punutiy spinning around and showing off their water-based gymnastics, regardless of how high up in the air you are.
To get the Punutiy mount, you’ll first need to unlock the Pelupelu Allied Society. We have a full guide on this, but here’s the bullet point list:
Once you’ve completed this quest, you’ll have access to daily Pelupelu Allied Society quests.
You can pick up three quests per day unless you increase your rank with the Pelupelu, which will allow you to take on three extra quests that day for a total of six quests. Each complete daily quest will reward one Pelu Pelplume.
The Punutiy mount will become available in exchange for Pelu Pelplumes once you’ve reached the Respected rank with the Pelupelu. That means you have to increase your rank twice and earn a total of 720 reputation. While that seems like a lot, it’s achievable within a week, so it won’t take you long to get your Punutiy.
A word of advice: The Wind-up Pelupelu minion unlocks once you hit Trusted rank. If you want to be able to purchase the Punutiy Horn as soon as it becomes available, I’d recommend not purchasing the Wind-up Pelupelu when it becomes available, as doing so will leave you short by a few Pelplumes by the time you unlock the Punutiy mount.

]]>Every patch for Final Fantasy XIV brings a lot of new items to collect and use, and patch 7.1 is absolutely no exception. Along with new gear, minions, and mounts, there are also a lot of new furnishing items up for grabs.
The furnishing design team seems to have decided that we need more modern furniture pieces, and I, for one, am not complaining, but this doesn’t mean there isn't a selection of traditional pieces within the additions.
If you’ve just decided to change the interior design of your house, then you’re looking at redecorating anyway, as all of your furniture is now in storage. So why not take this opportunity to get an idea for new items and maybe make a change?
There is a long list of 33 different new indoor furnishing items to get through, including a few items from a recent Furniture Design Contest that have been made real in-game.

While the inside of your newly designed house has a lot of new options in terms of newly added furniture, the outside doesn’t get quite as many new additions in patch 7.1. Only three new items have been added.
On the plus side, one of them is big enough to almost completely fill a small plot, so it’s not so bad.

]]>The First of Dawntrail’s Alliance Raids has arrived in Final Fantasy XIV in spectacular form, with ample references and inspiration taken directly from Final Fantasy XI. If you’re about to dive in to Jeuno: The First Walk, here’s everything you need to look out for.
Jeuno: The First Walk is set up in much the same way as any other Alliance Raid in FFXIV, with three main bosses, a bunch of trash mobs to pick through, and one mini-boss-trash-mob combination fight to work through. At the time of release, it takes about 45 minutes to one hour to complete, depending on party wipes and iLvl of players.
After the first trash mob is taken down on the main street of Jeuno, you’ll be flung directly into the first boss fight of the raid and you’ll be facing off against Prishe. She has some very hard hits, and an interesting charge-up mechanic that has previously been seen in The Sil’Dihn Subterrane.
The one thing you need to really pay attention to during this fight is Prishe’s voice lines. When casting certain attacks, she will display three telegraphs rather than one, and then she will begin to say “Wait for it…”. Each wait for it corresponds to one of the telegraphs for the attack, with a maximum of three, and you’ll need to place yourself accordingly to deal with the incoming brutal attack.
Prishe’s main attacks are as follows:
Attack | Explainer |
Knuckle Sandwich | Targets a location on the ground to slam, with three circles each slightly larger than each other. Prishe will say “Wait for it…” up to three times, with each time corresponding to one of the circles. However many times she says “Wait for it…”, stand outside the corresponding circle. |
Nullifying Dropkick | Very brutal tank-buster designed to be shared between all three tanks. Time for a group hug! Make sure to use your abilities to mitigate damage. |
Banish Storm | Three staves appear on the ground with arrows pointing outwards. After a short moment, moderately sized AoEs will begin to cascade out from the staves in the direction of the arrows. |
Crystalline Thorns | Marks a large portion of the arena with red, creating lethal spikes that cannot be stepped on. This move will always come before Auroral Uppercut. |
Auroral Uppercut | All players will be targeted with a knockback attack similar to that seen performed by Black Cat in the first Arcadion raid. Three telegraphs will be shown, so listen for Prishe’s “Wait for it…” count and adjust your position to ensure you land in a safe location. |
Banishga IV | Orbs begin to cover the arena, swelling up in sequence. Remain near the smaller orbs as the larger ones cause large AoEs, then move into the newly safe space. |
Fafnir is a very large dragon who is intent on causing as much damage as it can, and the attacks from this boss come incredibly fast. The first time you go through this battle, it will seem like complete chaos, but it’s perfectly manageable once you’ve figured out the patterns.
A couple of things to note about this fight are the fact that Fafnir will periodically cast Hurricane Wing, which will cause damaging wind to whip up across the entire arena. This can blow players around, and also cause some hefty damage, so Healers will need to be on their toes during this.
Tanks need to pay attention as well, even if they’re not Main Tank. During Hurricane Wind, Fafnir will also summon a number of Darters that need to be picked up and felled before continuing.
Other than Hurricane Wind, Fafnir’s main attacks are as follows:
Attack | Explainer |
Offensive Posture | Offensive Posture can take three entirely different forms, and you’ll need to pay attention to Fafnir to figure out how to ride out the oncoming attack. These can come immediately after one another in any pattern, so stay on your toes:
Head Charged: Tail Charged: Feet Charged: |
Baleful Breath | High-damage stack that hits multiple times and spreads damage across all players it hits. Stay together as a group and only leave the stack when the attack is over. |
Winged Terror | Fafnir’s will move to the edge of the arena and it’s wings will begin to grow purple, slamming down to the left and right after a short moment. Only the center of the arena in front of Fafnir’s head is safe. |
Absolute Terror | Much like Winged Terror, Absolute Terror is performed while Fafnir is at the edge of the arena. It’s body will start to glow purple before shooting a large AoE through the middle of the arena in front of it’s head, so make sure to stick to the sides. |
After you’ve worked through Fafnir, you’ll encounter a single stone Talos type enemy on your way to the next encounter. This enemy has an interruptible Tank Buster, so make sure to use Interject while it’s being cast.
The Ark Angels are a group of five enemies who need to be fought together, and they all have their own attacks and AoEs to dodge. Alone, these attacks would be remarkably simple to avoid, but grouped together, these five definitely pose a bit of a challenge.
It can feel pretty chaotic, but to make things easier, it’s possible to tank all five enemies in a group and simply AoE attack them to death. It’s slower, but it definitely makes things a little less stressful for all involved.
Here are the main attacks to look out for with the Ark Angels:
Attack | Explainer |
The Decisive Battle | Upon commencing the battle, the three tanks will become tethered to one of the three Ark Angels that are present, applying the Epic Hero Effect. Players will only be able to damage the Ark Angel with the matching effect. If you’re unsure, stick with your Alliance’s tank. |
Meikyo Shisui | A Number of different AoE attacks will go off in quick succession:
- Checkerboard ice AoE This bit is a little chaotic, and on the last part, remember that the safe cone of space is actually smaller than it appears once the attack goes off, so it’s safest to stand directly in the middle of a safe cone. |
Meteor | Ark Angel TT begins a lengthy cast that must be interrupted using Interject before it goes off to prevent catastrophic raid-wide damage. |
Guillotine | Ark Angel TT moves to one side of the room before performing a few large cleaves in front of him. Stand directly to his sides to avoid the attack. |
Utsusemi | Ark Angel HM creates four clones that will tether to a player before chasing them around the arena. Keep a distance from them, and other players should avoid getting caught in the tethers. |
Mijin Gakure | This is possibly the most vital mechanic of the raid, as failing this can cause a wipe. Ark Angel HM begins casting Mijin Gakure, while Ark Angel EV creates an Ark Shield. Focus all attacks on the shield and, when it’s defeated, someone must use Interject to interrupt Mijin Gakure to prevent a wipe. |
Rampage | Ark Angel MR will dash around the arena, causing three large linear AoEs before jumping up and slamming down to create a large circle AoE that should be avoided. |
Like I said, this fight sounds like complete chaos, but it’s mostly avoidance techniques. As long as you can master the art of interrupting Mijin Gakure, you should get through this in one try.
The big baddie of Jeuno: The First Walk, and the final boss, is Shadow Lord. His ability to use both magic and brawn make him a worthy foe, and he also calls upon clones to make things even more complicated. On the plus side, this is once again a lesson in avoidance and after the first go, you’ll pretty much know what you’re doing, although this fight will test your memory somewhat.
Here’s all of Shadow Lord’s main attacks and how to deal with them:
Attack | Explainer |
Giga Slash | Two sweeping swords will appear around Night Lord before disappearing, leaving a small safe zone that won’t be affected by the incoming cleave AoEs. The attacks won’t happen until after the second telegraph, so make sure to stand in the first safe spot and then very quickly move to the second. |
Giga Slash: Nightfall | Exactly the same as Giga Slash, except a third telegraphed attack will be added. Make sure to dodge and weave accordingly. |
Umbra Smash | Shadow Lord smashes the ground in a straight like AoE. These line AoEs will then cascade outwards from themselves, so run into a safe spot created by a previously executed AoE. |
Implosion | Shadow Lord lifts an orb in each hand, each creating a half circle AoE around him. One of these orbs will grow bigger, and you want to stand on the opposite side of the arena to avoid a half arena-wide AoE. |
Chthonic Fury | Shadow Lord transform the arena, dealing raid-wide damage and beginning a new phase. |
Dark Nebula | After the arena is turned into four circles with interconnecting passages, Shadow Lord will create a knockback line AoE on one side of the arena. Make sure to stand on the side that gives you enough space to fly back into a safe spot. Later on in the fight, four will happen in quick succession, sending you in a complete circle, but you'll need to remember the order. |
Dark Sigils | Circular and square telegraphs appear around the arena with thorns appearing on either the outside facing outwards, or inside facing inwards. The AoEs that goes off when this cast finishes will follow the direction of the thorns, so adjust your position accordingly. |
Shadow Spawn | Shadow Lord creates two clones of himself that will use Giga Slash or Implosion, following the order that the two attacks are performed by Shadow Lord himself. |
Binding Sigil | Three sets of circular sigils will appear on the ground in sequence, detonating to create large AoEs at the end of the cast. You’ll need to remember the order and figure out the safe spots, running into previously detonated AoEs to avoid damage. |
Once you’ve defeated Shadow Lord, you’ll be able to claim your spoils. Good luck rolling on the Nano Lord minion, and if you’re lucky enough to win one of the Tattered Sheet Music items, remember to head to Jeuno to trade it for FFXI inspired Orchestrion Rolls by talking to the Peculiar Goblin.

]]>As part of patch 7.1 of Final Fantasy XIV, the winners from a Weapon Design Contest have been added and are now obtainable. However, getting your hands on them is not easy and relies heavily on luck, as well as skill.
Unlike the previous round of Weapon Design Contest winners that were added in patch 6.4 as part of the Credendum sets available from Radz-at-Han, this second round of weapons is going to be a lot harder (or more expensive) to get your hands on. And trust me, if any weapons are worth getting, these are.
Figmental Weapon Coffers are a possible drop at any point when completing Cenote Ja Ja Gural, the treasure dungeon that can possibly result from deciphering a Timeworn Br’aaxskin Map.
The good news is that once you’ve reached level 100, you’re technically able to get a Figmental Weapon Coffer at any time by completing the previously mentioned Br'aaxskin Maps. However, the bad news is that this relies heavily on luck at multiple stages, and it’s not something that you’ll be able to complete solo, so you’ll need to drag some friends along with you, or at least one friend if you're feeling up for the challenge.
You’ll need luck in three, or possibly even four notable steps:
On the plus side, there’s no limit to the number of Br’aaxskin Maps you can decipher each day, so you can keep going until you get your hands on these kitchen and ocean-themed weapons.
If you’d rather avoid diving into Cenote Ja Ja Gural and relying on luck, then you can purchase Figmental Weapon Coffers on the Marketboard. However, they’re currently selling for up to 25 million Gil in extreme cases, so you might actually be better off putting the time and effort into getting one for yourself.
It's also worth noting that you cannot purchase individual weapons on the Marketboard, and must buy the Figmental Weapon Coffer if you want to get any of the Figment weapons.
Luckily, if you’re looking for Br’aaxskin Maps, I’ve got you covered with full maps for each region detailing where they can be obtained and how. You can also purchase Br’aaxskin Maps on the Marketboard.
However, it’s worth bearing in mind that as multiple new items have been added as drops from Cenote Ja Ja Gural, the price of Br’aaxskin Maps has skyrocketed. Prior to patch 7.1, the price of these Maps was up to 30,000 Gil and, at the time of writing, they’re currently selling for upwards of 200,000 Gil. However, you go about it, getting your very own Figmental Coffer is going to be an expensive endeavor.
In the interest of saving you a headache over this very difficult and expensive decision, I’ve taken some clear screenshots of each possible weapon from Figmental Weapon Coffers to help you decide which one you’re willing to take the plunge for.

]]>Orchestrion Rolls may not be at the top of the list when it comes to collectibles for most Final Fantasy XIV players, but most duties offer you the chance to get your hands on unique tracks for your collection. Jeuno: The First Walk is no exception, but the obtainment method is new.
Rather than getting to the end of Jeuno: The First Walk and finding ready-to-play Orchestrion Rolls as part of the overall loot, you need to gather up a unique item and then exchange that for Orchestrion Rolls of your choice. While this does add an extra step between finishing the raid and getting your tunes, it does mean that you get to pick and choose, rather than simply accepting what you win.
When you reach the end of Jeuno: The First Walk, and the additional coffer containing the Nano Lord minion and other miscellany, you’ll be able to roll for an item called “Tattered Sheet Music”. There are three to roll for, so you have a relatively high chance of obtaining one as long as you get a lucky roll, but bear in mind that you’re rolling against 23 other players for each item, so don’t get too disheartened if you don’t win your first time around.
If you do get a Tattered Sheet Music, you’ll need to make your way to Lower Jeuno to exchange it for an Orchestrion Roll. There is sadly no teleport directly to Lower Jeuno, so you’ll need to head to Mamook in Yak T’el, then hop on a mount and head westwards to the passage that will take you to the FFXI-inspired area at (X:10.9, Y:34.8), or as shown on the map above.
When you get to Lower Jeuno, head towards the back-right corner and find the Peculiar Goblin (X:6.5, Y:5.2). This little Goblin is inspired by a character known as Gobbiebox who can be found in the same location in FFXI. Gobbiebox allows players a once-daily chance to spin a dial to win potentially high-level items. In FFXIV, this Goblin is your ticket to playing FFXI-themed tunes in your abode.
After interacting with the Peculiar Goblin and selecting “Sheet Music Exchange”, you’ll be able to exchange one Tattered Sheet Music for any of the following 11 Orchestrion Rolls:
This does mean that you'll need to complete the raid at least 11 times in order to get all of the currently available Orchestrion Rolls, but you can also buy them on the Marketboard if you're willing to part with between 750,000 and a couple of million Gil. Besides, you're probably running the raids to get that iLvl 720 gear anyway, right? So it's probably a good idea to save your money.
As more Alliance Raids from the Echoes of Vana’diel series are released throughout the 7.X patches, there may be new Orchestrion Rolls added to this list, so make sure to revisit the Peculiar Goblin with each additional raid to make sure you’ve got all of the Orchestrion Rolls for your collection.

]]>The Hall of the Novice is an entirely optional piece of side content in Final Fantasy XIV that allows you to practice skills and learn new things that can prove useful in battle. With patch 7.1, a number of new training exercises were added for players to complete if they choose.
Hall of the Novice was introduced way back in patch 3.2, and has been left relatively untouched since then with little being added. However, the training exercises are immensely useful for both new players, and those who have stepped away for a while and haven’t been keeping up with newly added mechanics.
When you get your first class to level 15, you can speak with an NPC called “The Smith” in any of the following locations to unlock the Hall of the Novice:
When you’ve got the Hall of the Novice unlocked, you’ll be able to undertake the various training exercises that are available.
There are four different categories of training exercises at the Hall of the Novice:
While Tactical Training can be completed by any players using any Job, including those most recently added as part of Dawntrail, the individual class (Tank, Healer, and DPS) training exercises can only be completed by jobs added during Stormblood or before.
That means that the Jobs listed below cannot take part in basic Hall of the Novice training:
To take part in Hall of the Novice training, you can either approach one of The Smiths at their locations noted above and select “Undertake Hall of the Novice training”, or open up the Duty menu and select “Hall of the Novice”. Either method will bring up an interface that looks like the image below:
To find a particular exercise, click on the “Display all exercises” button in the bottom right corner, select the training exercise you want to complete, and then click on “View exercise”. As long as you’re playing with a qualifying Job, you’ll be able to select “Begin” to be taken into the exercise.
In total, there are 20 basic exercises that you can complete if you choose to do so. These exercises are split between the different roles, with each role having a “final exercise” that combines everything from previous exercises into one fight sequence. Completing all exercises will reward you with a set of level 15 "Brand-new" gear for the role that you completed the training.
Tanks have the most exercises of all roles, and while the topics might seem fairly basic, it’s definitely worth completing all of them. This is especially true if you’re new to MMOs and want to get into higher-level content:
There are five different exercises for Healers to undertake specifically, and although they’re pretty basic, they’re great for those who may be nervous about having the lives of the party in their hands:
DPS classes have a total of seven exercises to complete, including the final exercise to test everything they’ve learned. Again, while these seem pretty basic, it’s all very useful to know and understand if you’re new to this type of play style:
Tactical training can be undertaken while playing any job, regardless of when that job was added. You’ll need to complete the level 49 MSQ quest “Hearts on Fire” before you can unlock and complete them, though. When that’s done, head back to one of The Smiths and talk to them to unlock the Tactical Training exercises.
There are three Tactical Training exercises to complete that unlock in sequence after completing the previous one, and each will take you through various different mechanics that are commonly seen throughout the content in FFXIV. For completing the three Tactical Training exercises, you’ll be rewarded with a Neophyte’s Ring, which increases EXP gain by 30% when playing on a Job that’s below level 60.
Let’s take a look at each exercise, and the different mechanics that you’ll encounter while completing them.
Mechanics included in this Tactical Training include linear Tank Busters, AoEs that chase you across the arena, Stack Markers, and Spread Markers. You’ll go through each mechanic individually, and then utilize what you’ve learned in a final test that you’ll need to pass to complete the exercise.
This exercise will take you through more complex mechanics, such as Knockback Markers, Proximity Markers, and Towers. Again, you’ll be tested in a final exercise that combines all of the taught mechanics.
The third and final Tactical Training exercise will take you through various more complex mechanics, such as Proximity Tethers and how to break them, Gaze attacks, status effects such as Poison or Bind, and how to use Esuna to cleanse them. Completing the final test in this exercise will reward you with the Neophyte’s Ring.

]]>With every patch, new obtainable items are added to Final Fantasy XIV, and patch 7.1 is certainly no exception. Among the newly added items is an emote that’s readily available to every player, but you might not expect it to come from where it does.
For anyone who has been playing FFXIV for a few years, there’s a commonly shared belief that Jonathas in Old Gridania is kind of… Useless. Okay, so maybe “useless” is the wrong word, he’s actually very useful in the beginning because he has a lot of items that can be purchased in exchange for Achievement Certificates.
However, those items are quickly all in your collection and then you rarely have any reason to visit Jonathas again, because his stock is hardly ever updated. It’s been a long time since he had anything new (that wasn’t a Framer’s Kit for a fishing achievement), but it seems that 7.1 has thrown Jonathas a bone and given players a reason to seek him out.
While it might not seem like the most useful emote going, the Flowerbed Maintenance emote is perpetual, meaning that it doesn’t end until you move. Like the Sweep emote, it can be used to sprinkle players who are playing dead in busy areas, and the two actually go together remarkably well to make it look like you’re cleaning up the riff-raff. Or, you know, you could just use it to take cute Group Pose shots of you watering the flowers.
However you intend to use it, it’s always beneficial to have more emotes in your arsenal, and you can get the Flowerbed Maintenance emote from Jonathas in Old Gridania (X:10.6, Y:6.2).
The emote will cost you two Achievement Certificates, which are earned by exchanging Achievement Points. It’s all a bit confusing, but I can promise you that if you’ve been playing for even a few weeks, you’ve likely got enough stocked up to get the emote and likely have some spare to get some other items.
Once you’ve got the emote, you’ll need to use it from your inventory in the usual fashion, and then you can use it in one of two ways. Your first choice is to open up the Social Menu, click on Emotes, and then find the “Water” emote under the “Special” tab. You can also drag the emote from the emote list and place it on your hotbar, if you think you’re going to use it often.
Alternatively, if you’re not up for clicking through multiple menus and searching for it, you can type “/water” in the chat box then press enter, causing your character to whip out their watering can to hydrate the ground in front of them.

]]>It’s been a while since we last visited the Pandæmonium raid storyline in Final Fantasy XIV, but with the release of patch 7.1, the epilogue for the story is finally available to play. What’s more, it comes with some worthwhile rewards, so it’s definitely worth seeking out.
If you think back to the Pandæmonium raids, specifically the 11th Circle, you’ll remember Themis, which is the true name of Elidibus. Don’t worry if you’re confused even now by the Convocation of the Fourteen, it’s enough to confuse even the biggest lorehound. You’ll also likely remember that when we last visited the Pandæmonium storyline, Themis acknowledged us as a friend before returning to the Aetherial Sea.
Now it’s time to wrap up the story completely, and you’ll get your own mini Themis for doing so. To get it, you’ll need to complete a level 90 quest called “A Present from the Present”.
To begin the final Pandæmonium quest, head to Old Sharlayan and talk to the Affable Researcher close to the main Aetheryte (X:11.0, Y:10.6) to pick up “A Present from the Present”. He’ll send you off to talk to Claudien at Aporia, Labyrinthos (X:8.6, Y:27.5).
Talking to Claudien will spark a cutscene during which you’ll be introduced to the little cutie that is the Wind-up Themis minion, and then it will be up to us to deliver it to Erichtonios inside Pandæmonium itself.
Now, if you’re diving into this epilogue quest soon after 7.1 dropped, then it’s likely to have been a while since you entered Pandæmonium through the front door and you may have since forgotten exactly where said front door is. To get there, teleport to Anagnorisis in Elpis, then head north-east to the location shown on the map below:
Enter Pandæmonium and head straight towards it until you find Hegemone (X:21.3, Y:20.7), and talk to her to continue the quest. After a cutscene, you can hide behind the gate to the next section of Pandæmonium as Erichthonios approaches.
What follows is a very touching cutscene to wrap up the Pandæmonium storyline, including some confusion as to how Themis became so small, but Erichthonios will gladly accept the new companion.
When the cutscene is over, return to Aporia and talk to Claudien again to complete the final Pandæmonium quest and be rewarded with your very own Wind-up Themis. You’ll also be rewarded with the Where Dæmons Abide Orchestrion Roll. Neither of these items can be traded or sold on the Marketboard, so you’ll need to complete this quest if you want to have them in your collection.

]]>With the release of patch 7.1 in Final Fantasy XIV, many new items were added that can be purchased or obtained from various sources. One of these items was foretold in the preliminary patch notes and can turn even the clumsiest of players into a cocktail genius.
The Shake Drink emote is a perpetual emote, meaning that it doesn’t end until you move or do something to interrupt it. It’s not just visual, either, as long as the emote is being performed, a shaking sound will accompany the movement.
This is a particularly exciting emote for those who dip into the FFXIV Roleplay community, particularly those who partake in the nightlife scene. It adds a new level of realism to the bars and clubs frequented by players and it is a welcome surprise for this patch.
If you want to get the Shake Drink emote, you’ll need to visit the Vegas of Eorzea — The Gold Saucer. When you get there, head to the “Gold Saucer Attendant <Prize Claim>” NPC and select the “Registerable Miscellany” option to find a list of emotes, hairstyles, mounts, and minions.
Scroll down a little until you find an item called “Ballroom Etiquette - Fancy Beverages”. This is the item you need to purchase to unlock the Shake Drink emote, and it will cost you 50,000 MGP.
Once you’ve purchased it, use it from within your inventory by right-clicking on it and pressing “Use”, and then you can use the emote in one of two ways. The first way is through the emote menu, which can be found under “Social”. The Shake Drink emote can be found in the “Special” tab of the emote menu.
Alternatively, you can simply type “/shakedrink” in the chat window to pull out your cocktail shaker.
If you’re new to gambling in Final Fantasy XIV, there are a few easy ways to make some MGP. I won’t go into too much detail as we have a full guide on the subject, but here’s a few pointers:

]]>The recent patch 7.1 brought a few new graphical updates to Final Fantasy XIV, and developer Naoki Yoshida acknowledged during Live Letter 84 that it might change how player characters looked, even if only slightly.
To combat this, the developers dropped in a new quest that can be undertaken for players to get their hands on yet another free Phial of Fantasia. Unlike the previous quest, which was added during the 7.0 update when Dawntrail was released, this second quest is only available for a limited time and will cease to exist once patch 7.2 is released.
If you’ve been wandering around Eorzea for hours on end looking for this second free Fantasia, which is definitely worth it considering the usual cost of $10 per Phial, then you might be surprised to know where it actually comes from.
To get this free Fantasia, you might be tempted to return to the Medicine Merchant in Ul’dah, who gives out the previous (and more permanent) free Fantasia quest. However, he won’t be of any use to you and you’ll leave empty handed.
Instead head to Gridania, and then use the Aethernet system to travel to the Lancers Guild. Head west towards Apkallu Falls, and you’ll find an NPC there called the Wandering Moogle.
Even though the Moogle has a quest above his head, this one doesn’t up on either the mini–map or the full map, so you can be forgiven for completely overlooking it if you’ve hunted around in this area before. I've marked the location on the map below, just in case you're still a little lost:
You don’t have to actually do anything to earn the free Fantasia either. This little Moogle will simply be so happy and stunned that you can see them, and will hand over a Phial of Fantasia as a show of gratitude. This does make me wonder whether Moogles are just carrying an endless supply of the appearance-changing wonder potion, but let’s not think too much on that.
While you’re in the area, make sure to visit Jonathas nearby. He has a few new sets of facewear and a shiny new emote available to purchase, so it’s definitely worth the time.
Fantasia lets you change almost everything about your character except their name and accomplishments. From the tiniest of details, like the shape of your nose or ears, to the most glaring differences, like becoming a different gender or an entirely new race, Fantasia lets you do it all.
Just bear in mind that you’ll need to strip out of your current clothes before you can use the Fantasia, so try to find somewhere quiet before you begin the process!

]]>Mounts are always a worthwhile investment in Final Fantasy XIV, whether you need to grind for an achievement or hoard up some currency to purchase them. One of the new mounts added in patch 7.1 is perfectly prehistoric and weirdly adorable.
The Brachiosaurus is a dinosaur that roamed the Earth during the late Jurassic period, roughly 150 million years ago. I’m not entirely sure what that means for the time-setting of FFXIV, and I don’t really want to think about it too much, but either way, it’s not every day that you get to have your very own dinosaur to mount up on while you go exploring.
The Brachiosaur mount can be obtained through taking part in The Hunt and earning Sacks of Nuts. You’ll need to do a lot of hunting if you want to get this dinosaur friend because you’ll need 3,200 Sacks of Nuts to purchase it. Once you’ve saved up this hefty sum, head to Tuliyollal and talk to Ryubool Ja (X:13.9, Y:13.4).
Thankfully, Sacks of Nuts can be obtained when felling hunts in any zone from Shadowbringers, Endwalker, and now Dawntrail. This means that you’re not limited to the highest level hunts, and can actually make this fairly easy on yourself by targeting level 80 or 90 Hunt Marks with a level 100 Job.
To make things even easier, it’s a good idea to join a Hunt Train. Although most Hunt Trains these days will be focused on Dawntrail Marks, there are still some that take place in lower-level areas, and they’re an excellent way to stock up on a huge supply of Sacks of Nuts very quickly thanks to the large number of players who take part.
The best way to find a Hunt Train is by checking out Faloop! or joining their Discord server to be kept informed about Hunt Trains on your server. Don’t forget you can also visit other Data Centers or Worlds to partake in The Hunt there, so don’t feel like you have to limit yourself to your own Data Center or World.
Regardless of what area you choose to focus on, make sure to pick up your Hunt Marks from the Hunt Board in each expansion:
If you do want to stick to Dawntrail area Hunt Marks, we have handy guides for all A Rank and S Rank Hunt Marks, so you’ll at least know where to find them if you go off in search of a fight.

]]>It’s a pretty basic expectation for trials in Final Fantasy XIV to each have an Extreme variant, designed with a significantly higher level of difficulty and intended to test players once they’ve got the normal version perfected. As part of patch 7.1, The Interphos has finally got an extreme equivalent.
The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden is the boosted-difficulty version of the Dawntrail MSQ “The Interphos” Trial. As the name suggests, this Extreme Trial will see players pitted against Sphene all over again, except this time she’s not holding back and has a whole new moveset to throw at you.
All of the Extreme trials from Dawntrail offer the chance to get the first ever actually functional wing mounts, and completing The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden will allow you to collect the third set of wings, which are just as stunning as the previous Wings of Resolve and Ruin.
You’ve likely been waiting at least four months to be able to test your mettle against Sphene all over again, or just to get another pair of wings, so here’s how to unlock The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden.
Before you can unlock The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden, you’ll need to complete most of the MSQ up to and including the level 100 quest that shares the name of the expansion, “Dawntrail”.
Unlocking The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden is done in the same way as unlocking any other extreme trial in FFXIV, by talking to the Wandering Minstrel. He’s in a few different places (or he’s perfected the art of cloning), so for The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden, you’ll need to head to Tuliyollal to find him near the For’ard Cabins Inn (X:11.2, Y:14.7).
After talking to him, you’ll have the option to “Queen Eternal”, which will trigger a cutscene of the Wandering Minstrel discussing her. After this, you’ll unlock The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden and will be able to queue for it via the Duty Finder.
If you’re heading to do this a few months down the line, when The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden isn’t freshly introduced, you’ll also have the options to “Talk about Valigarmanda” and “Talk about Zoraal Ja”. These options will unlock Worqor Lar Dor (Extreme) and Everkeep (Extreme) respectively.

]]>If you’re anything like me, you’ve likely encountered the “running out of space in my glamour dresser” problem more than once over the years in Final Fantasy XIV. Even though we have 800 slots to fill now, it’s still an issue, but something being added in patch 7.1 might help.
Outfit Glamours are designed to condense all of the pieces from a particular glamour set so that the whole set only takes up one space in your Glamour Dresser, rather than the five or six slots that it would previously. This is a great little feature, but there is a caveat.
In order to create an Outfit Glamour, you must own every piece of the corresponding glamour set and they must all be of the same quality. Take the Casual Attire set, for instance. If you just own the Casual Boots and the Casual Jacket, you won’t be able to condense them down into an Outfit Glamour unless you go and buy the Casual Halfslops as well. And if you own one thing in HQ and the rest of a set in NQ, you’ll need to reduce the quality of all items in order to proceed.
Outfit Glamours are also pretty useless when it comes to event reward sets or items purchased from the Online Store, as both can be stored in the Armoire. However, where this comes in handy is for sets that are given out as quest rewards, such as the Felicitous set from Island Sanctuary, or crafted sets such as the Varsity Attire.
To tell if an item can be added as part of an Outfit Glamour, check on the Glamour Dresser icon in the top right of the window that pops up when you hover over the item. If there’s a “+” icon, this can be added to the Glamour Dresser as part of an Outfit Glamour.
While at your Glamour Dresser, find an item from the set that you wish to create an Outfit Glamour for in the equipment selection screen, then click on the Outfit Glamour icon to the right of the item’s name. This will bring up a new window, detailing which items will be added to the Outfit Glamour and how many Glamour Prisms you’ll need to proceed.
The listed items will then be condensed into one slot, and placed into the Glamour Dresser.
Making a glamour with items stored under an Outfit Glamour is exactly the same as it was previously, with items appearing as they always have in their previous locations. The only difference is a small note on the window that pops up when you hover over the item, stating that it is stored as part of an Outfit Glamour.
If you want to retrieve anything that’s included as part of an Outfit Glamour, you’ll need to click on the item and select “Restore Item” as you did previously. However, doing this will retrieve the entire set, rather than just the individual piece that you wanted in the first place. Then, if you want to store the rest of the set again, you won’t be able to store it as an Outfit Glamour without all of the pieces.

]]>Doman Mahjong might not be everyone's idea of a riveting fun time in Final Fantasy XIV, and to some (myself included), it is just an overwhelmingly complicated piece of side content that is usually avoided.
However, one of the new things added as part of patch 7.1 is Mahjong Voices. This adds voice lines for all of the Scions, making the game-within-the-game feel far more immersive, and almost as though the Scions are behind you giving you support while you battle it out with your opponent.
As this is new content, it might not be immediately clear how it works, but here are all the details you could possibly need to have Alphinaud, Thancred, or any of the Scions cheering on your victories or lamenting you for your losses.
Before you can unlock any Mahjong Voices, you’ll need to have done a couple of things:
When both of these are done, you’ll be able to talk to Dibourdier in the Gold Saucer (X:7.1 Y:7.8) to purchase new “Maxims of Mahjong” items using MGP as and when they become available. New voices will unlock as you progress through the MSQ and complete certain quests.
To enable Mahjong Voices, you’ll need to open up the Gold Saucer menu via Character, and then navigate to the Mahjong tab. Here, you’ll be able to enable or disable voices (maybe you don’t want Thancred to tell you how badly you’re doing, that’s understandable), or choose which character you want to be in your ear while playing.
You’ll also find all of the rules and information about Doman Mahjong in this window, something which up until now was only available by talking to the Mahjong Tutor.
There are a total of 7 characters whose voices can be unlocked and enabled to talk to you while you’re playing Mahjong. Each character unlocks at a certain point in the MSQ, and costs a certain amount of MGP to unlock.
Character voice | Unlock requirement | MGP Cost |
Alphinaud | Complete MSQ quest “Heavensward” | 100,000 |
Alisaie | Complete MSQ quest “Stormblood” | 100,000 |
Thancred | Complete MSQ quest “Shadowbringers” | 100,000 |
Urianger | Complete MSQ quest “Shadowbringers” | 100,000 |
Y’shtola | Complete MSQ quest “Shadowbringers” | 100,000 |
Estinien | Complete MSQ quest “Endwalker” | 100,000 |
G’raha | Complete MSQ quest “Endwalker” | 100,000 |
Krile | Complete MSQ quest “Dawntrail” | 100,000 |

]]>If you’ve got a player house in Final Fantasy XIV, you’ll be pretty used to working with the interior that’s determined by the location of the house. However, as part of patch 7.1, players with estates can now choose to change the design of their interior, regardless of exterior location.
Prior to this point, each location had a set interior that could not be changed. Houses in The Goblet had a more desert-like theme, Shirogane boasts a more traditional Japanese-inspired Aesthetic, and so on. With the new option to change your interior design, it doesn’t matter where the house is, the inside is up to you.
And it’s not just the same old designs that we have to choose from. Also added in patch 7.1 was the new sleek and modern “Minimalist Style”. Not only does this remove all columns, it paints the entire space white, gives gloriously blank white walls ready to be decorated, and also moves the entire staircase in houses on larger plots.
In order to change the interior design of a private house in Final Fantasy XIV, you’ll need to either be the owner of the plot or have furnishing placement authorization. If you want to change the interior of a Free Company house, you’ll need to have hall remodeling authorization from the FC leader.
The good news is that not only is the option to change the interior design of your house entirely free, but you’ll also be able to do it as many times and as often as you like. However, it’s worth remembering that changing the interior design of a house will result in all furnishing being transferred to the estate’s storeroom.
If there isn’t enough space for everything in the estate’s storeroom, you’ll be unable to change the design of the interior. In other words, it’s time to adopt a Marie Kondo mindset and get to decluttering if you want to benefit from this newly added feature. Reduce the hoard, how often do you use that Dance Pole in the bedroom anyway?
Changing the design of your house interior is remarkably easy, as the option has been added to the usual menu that you’ll see when redecorating or moving around the furniture. To get there, open up the “Social” menu, then select “Housing”, and the “Interior Design” option will now be the fifth in the list.
After selecting the “Interior Design” option, you’ll be free to browse through the following options and select your desired style:
The only downside to changing the interior design of your house is the aforementioned result of furniture being transferred to storage. This means that you’ll then need to spend a few hours putting things back together, or redesigning completely based on the new look of the house.

]]>Possibly the most anticipated new addition that arrived in Final Fantasy XIV with patch 7.1 is the new Final Fantasy XI-inspired Alliance Raids, Echoes of Vana’diel. Whether you’ve previously played FFXI, or you’re being introduced for the first time, these raids will prove exciting.
With brand new gear, minions, and exciting new fights to take part in, there are a lot of things to look forward to in the Echoes of Vana’diel Alliance Raid series. The first raid, Jeuno: The First Walk has already proven nostalgic for players of Final Fantasy’s first MMO, and exciting for those diving into the world for the first time.
Before you can unlock and take part in the Echoes of Vana’diel raids, you’ll need to complete a significant part of the MSQ, up to and including the titular level quest from the latest expansion “Dawntrail”.
Once you’ve done that, head to Tuliyollal and talk to the Hoobigo Messenger (X:13.0, Y:11.6) to pick up a level 100 quest called “An Otherworldly Encounter”. He’s right next to the Aetheryte, you can’t miss him. This is the first main quest for the Echoes of Vana’diel raid series and will see you heading to Mamook.
Talk to Miilal Ja in Mamook (X:32.8, Y:33.6) and you’ll meet an Armor-clad Elvaan Warrior with memory loss, before discovering that Gulool Ja’s shade has returned with murderous intent and Bakool Ja Ja needs backup to fend it off.
When you exit the cutscene, make your way to the destination (X:10.8, Y:32.3) to aid Bakool Ja Ja. After another cutscene that will likely make more sense to anyone who has played FFXI than anyone who hasn’t, Bakool Ja Ja will follow ‘Gulool Ja’ and Prishe into the portal. Talk to the Armor-clad Warrior (X:10.8, Y:34.3) to get a small explanation of what’s going on, then follow Bakool Ja Ja into the portal.
Interacting with the portal will open up the Duty Finder and allow you to queue for the first of the Echoes of Vana’diel Alliance Raids.
Completing Jeuno: The First Walk will reward players with an Ordelle Coin, which can be exchanged with Uah’shepya in Solution Nine (X:8.7 Y:13.5) for Surgelight Twine or Surgelight Solvent, which can then be used to upgrade gear.

]]>Back when Dawntrail was released in June 2024, a new feature was added to mounts in Final Fantasy XIV that made them tilt while turning. Although this was a nice update, many players found that the motion made them queasy, and were stuck with no way to turn it off.
With the 7.1 Crossroads patch, this tilt has been extended to player characters while moving without a mount. This would be horrible news for anyone who is susceptible to motion sickness while gaming if it wasn’t for the fact that 7.1 also introduces a way to turn off the tilting feature altogether.
Previously, we gave some short-term fixes for the motion sickness issue, such as not focusing on your mount while flying, or trying to avoid turning too often. Now, however, I can tell you how to remove the tilt completely.
If you’ve grown used to the motion while turning, then you may not need to fiddle with this setting at all. To combat the motion sickness issue, FFXIV developers have also reduced the speed at which certain mounts tilt when turning, so that might be enough to rectify the problem.
However, if you’re still having an issue, you can follow the steps below to return to the previous perpetually upright movement style.
Adjusting your tilt settings in your game of Final Fantasy XIV is done in much the same way as adjusting other settings that make your game unique to you — through the Character Configuration menu.
To get there, either open up the main menu and select “Character Configuration”, or select the “System” button in the bottom right corner of the screen (unless you’ve shuffled around your HUD, in which case only you will know where this button is) and select “Character Configuration” from there.
Either way, once this is open, you’ll need to locate the tilt settings by following the following directions:
In this section, you’ll find the option to enable or disable the “Effects while in motion” option. You can tweak this to suit your own tastes, by disabling all of the effects or just some of them. You can also choose to show only your own, rather than those of other people as well.

]]>The first Allied Society of Dawntrail has arrived in Final Fantasy XIV, and now it’s time to help the Pelupelu cope with the perils surrounding their base at Dock Poga in Kozama’uka. Who knows what we’ll face along the way, but there are sure to be some nice rewards up for grabs.
As with all Allied Societies, the Pelupelu can only be unlocked once you’ve reached a certain point in the MSQ. In this case, you’ll need to complete all MSQ quests up to and including the level 100 quest “Dawntrail”.
Because the Pelupelu is the first Allied Society of the Dawntrail expansion, there are no further unlock requirements to complete at this time. When more Allied Societies are added down the line, you may need to complete the Pelupelu quests in order to unlock new ones.
Once you’ve completed the main story of Dawntrail up until the titular quest, you’ll be able to head to Tuliyollal to talk to the Blue-garbed Pelu (X:13.6, Y:12.9) and pick up the first quest in the Pelupelu Allied Society quest line called “An Intrepid New Enterprise”.
This is a level 90 quest, and the Pelupelu daily quests are specifically for your battle classes. As such, if you have any Jobs that are still between level 90 and level 100, it’s a good idea to pick up this quest as that Job. Then, for subsequent quests and also daily Society quests, you’ll gain a lot of experience which will really help with the leveling process.
After talking to the Blue-garbed Pelu, and having been invited to be the trailblazer for the Turali Travel Agency, head to Ok’hanu and wait at the destination (X:20.1, Y:13.4). After the cutscene, talk to Liplu again.
After agreeing to become a special advisor for the Travel Agency, speak to Liplu again and they will walk off. You’ll need to talk to three of the Hanuhanu and offer advice on different aspects of the proposed guided tour in order to progress. They can be found in the following locations:
With that done, return to Ok’hanu and talk to Liplu (X:20.0, Y:13.5) again. You’ll then finally get to glimpse Dock Poga for the first time, including the petting zoo and myriad of bright colors, and talking to Liplu once more here will complete the quest and fully unlock the Pelupelu Allied Society.
After flying to Dock Poga, you’ll be able to attune to the new Aetheryte in the location, which makes it much easier to pick up daily Society quests from Yubli (X:36.8, Y:16.2). You’ll also have unlocked the Ohokaliy emote, which is the traditional greeting of the Hanuhanu.
You’ll also earn Pelu Pelplumes for each daily quest that you complete. These can be collected and traded with Pavli in Dock Poga (X:37.1, Y:16.1) for a multitude of exclusive rewards, including Triple Triad Cards, Orchestrion Rolls, and glamour items.

]]>With the release of patch 7.1 in Final Fantasy XIV, a new PVP series has begun. That can only mean one thing — we have new rewards to work towards. From emotes to a whole attire coffer, there are a total of five big rewards to work for and some new items to spend your Trophy Crystals on to boot.
You’ll need plenty of Trophy Crystals to get your hands on everything below, so it’s time to pick a Job and dive into PvP. Remember, whichever Job you choose is likely to be changed significantly post-patch 7.1, as each Job other than Pictomancer and Viper is undergoing huge changes as part of the patch.
However, even if your favored Job is now unfamiliar, you can rest assured that you will get some Series EXP even if you lose your matches, so you’ll get everything you want eventually. Try not to take things too seriously, and remember to have fun!
As always in a PvP season in Final Fantasy XIV, there are 30 Malmstone levels to climb your way through to earn all of the Trophy Crystals you need to hoard all of the gear above and have some left over.
As you play PVP matches, you’ll earn Series EXP, and this will help you climb through the Malmstone levels. Each level typically rewards 1,000 Trophy Crystals, but there are also some particularly special rewards available to claim every five levels:
These rewards will only be available to work towards as long as Series 7 is live, so if any of the above rewards take your fancy, it’s time to dive into PvP to target and beat up your fellow Warriors of Light.

]]>If you use the Final Fantasy XIV Launcher to start up your game, then you’re used to seeing the chosen artwork in the background. However, one thing added as part of the 7.1 update is a new ability to customize your launcher to suit your tastes.
Are you a fan of G’raha? I mean really, who isn’t? Maybe you’ve got a soft spot for Erenville, and who could blame you? Well, now you can pick them to greet you whenever you open up the official Launcher to log in to Final Fantasy XIV. They’re not the only options, of course, but it’s nice that they are options among the current group of six.
To change your background in the FFXIV Launcher, open it up and input your log-in details but don’t press “Play”. Instead, locate the cog button in the top right-hand side of the window, click it, and you’ll be taken to the Config menu.
After the 7.1 update is live, there will be a new section underneath “Theme” where the possible backgrounds will show up. There are currently a total of six different designs that you can set to greet you:
To choose your background, click on the image you like and it will become surrounded by a green border with a green tick in the top right corner. Then, if you want to see your changes implemented right away, you’ll need to exit the Launcher and re-open it. Either way, you’re free to log in and get to playing.
You can also choose for the background to be different each time you log in, adding a nice element of surprise to your login experience. To do this, make sure that every image (or the ones that you like) is surrounded by the green border and ticked off. Then, each time you log in, you’ll be greeted by someone different.
There’s no telling whether new backgrounds will eventually be added to the launcher, or whether the current ones will ever change, so make sure to check back regularly and keep an eye on updates from Square Enix.
